I Musei Vi Raccontano

Appointment at the Jewellery Museum with "The goldsmith's art: a happy meeting of tradition and innovation"

I Musei Vi Raccontano

On Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th of September, take part in the guided tours of "I Musei VI Raccontano" to discover the stories of buildings, squares and churches of the historic center and reveal the lives of the painters, architects and sculptors whose creations make Vicenza a "beautiful city". Because Vicenza is not "only" the "city of Palladio", over the centuries it has been a place of development of knowledge and research, experiences and inventions.

The 9 itineraries are free, with numerous slots, and with reservations recommended to ensure participation, which is possible with the purchase of the Vicenza card that, for the occasion, will be available at a special rate of 15 euros. Vicenza's residents and its province can purchase it at a reduced price of 12 euros. Families with two adults and a maximum of 4 minors will be able to take advantage of the Family card for 24 euros. The cards are valid for 2 days, include one entry to each museum and allow you to participate in the tours at no additional cost.
At the Jewellery Museum the precious itinerary "Goldsmith's Art: A Happy Meeting of Tradition and Innovation" will accompany visitors to discover the creation of a jewel, between artisan mastery, precision techniques and creativity.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Veneto Productivity Center Foundation (CPV) and with Assocoral, the association of coral, cameo and jewellery producers of Torre del Greco, it will be possible to attend live demonstrations of the main production techniques throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday—processing carried out by CPV students and a master coral craftsman.
The students of the high school and of the ITS post-diploma course of the CPV will start from the elaboration of a pencil sketch, then move on to soft wax modeling and the various processing techniques: the manual one of a metal artifact, engraving and setting under a microscope, up to the finishing with fired enamel. There will also be a demonstration of the most innovative manufacturing techniques such as CAD design and 3D printing.
From the Vicenza goldsmith district to the symbolic place of the coral tradition: a master craftsman, who for the occasion will arrive directly from Torre del Greco (NA), will enchant visitors with demonstrations of engraving and carving of corals and cameos. An ancient art, that of coral processing, continues to fascinate and ensure that coral jewels are among the Italian goldsmith excellences recognized throughout the world.

Visitors will be able to book a visit to the permanent collection "Gioielli Italiani" on Saturday 23 September at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and Sunday 24 September at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m. by writing to or by calling 0444 320799.

The other 9 itineraries included in the days of I Musei VI Raccontano will be in the five municipal offices (Palazzo Chiericati, Gallerie of Palazzo Thiene, Church of Santa Corona, Naturalistic Archaeological Museum, Palazzo Cordellina) and in three other partner museums (Museo Diocesano and the Archaeological area, Palladio Museum, Palazzo Leoni Montanari).

The Vicenza Card and the Family card allow entry, in addition to the venues that offer itineraries, to the Museum del Risorgimento e della Resistenza, the Palladian Basilica, the Olympic Theater and the Torrione di Porta Castello.

The Vicenza Card and the Family Card can be purchased at the Iat - Information and tourist reception office in Piazza Matteotti 12, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September from 9 am to 5.30 pm and the Infopoint in the Palladian Basilica, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th September from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The initiative is possible thanks to the collaboration of the Vicenza è Consortium.
