SEPTEMBER 3, 2016 – JANUARY 15, 2017

"Travel over the centuries, the traces left by voyagers, jewels for travel, nostalgia, travel as movement and as metaphor for life. These are the six major themes that have emerged from the work of twenty-five young international designers around the notion of “Jewellery and journey”, a subject of great appeal and narrative potential, and a reflection of the contemporary world."

The collection of brooches has been created with the intention of paying tribute to the great travellers of the past and at the same time to illustrate how the experience of travel has changedover time. The attitude of the modern traveller has changed: more and more rarely will he keep a diary, both because of its often bulky size, and because, to fix his memories, he will prefer the immediacy of technology. Travel notes is a bracelet-notebook that allows you to jot down thoughts and emotions; while maintaining a compact, modern design, it promotes a return to tradition, to the ritual of writing by hand, which is the origin of history.

The tale of a unique and subjective journey, an unrepeatable fragment of time and space in the universe of the individual, takes the form of a reflection: a circle of mirror to wear, which reflects not only the constantly changing world, but also the traveller who wears it and who becomes an integral part of the landscape.

The mirror disk is therefore a tool for understanding yourself and observing all that is happening around. The jewel thus becomes an interpreter of reality: its beauty and its colours are determined by the pace of travel of each person.

Anello
Argento 925

The inspiration for this ring comes from some recurring motifs in the works of Vassily Kandinsky. The artist was in the habit of listening to music while painting and his art is able to propagate its rhythm and melody. The design consists of a series of modular rings, a dynamic system of alternate lines and surfaces to be worn as a unit or separately. The design is clean and minimal, defined by a monochromatic palette placing the emphasis on the forms.

In a single expression, the name sums up centuries of history that marked the destiny of many different peoples, and evokes an exotic imagery that still continues to fascinate travellers from around the world. A symbolic jewel, an amulet, which enables you to feel like Marco Polo, “a traveler among travellers”, the adventurer who made his life a great journey, without ever forgetting his Italian origins.

The steel plate depicts the main stages of the ancient route followed by the famous Venetian traveller, while the symbols of the different peoples are harmonised with each other in a single design linked by a common thread: a thread of silk.
