Kintsugi, repairing with gold
VIOFF, the Vicenzaoro Fuori Fiera, will host the "Kintsugi, repairing with gold" event at The Jewellery Museum, a conference and presentation of the book on Kintsugi art by Chiara Lorenzetti - ChiaraArte
On Saturday, September 9th, from 3 pm to 5 pm, at The Jewellery Museum, during the VIOFF the Vicenzaoro Fuori Fiera, there will be "Kintsugi, repairing with gold", a conference and presentation of the book on Kintsugi art by Chiara Lorenzetti - ChiaraArte.
The event will include demonstrations of some stages of restoration and performative interaction with the public. Thanks to the collaboration of the artist-craftsman, VIOFF offers a journey to discover the many facets of the art of restoration and enhancement of the artifact.
Kintsugi is the Japanese repair technique carried out on ceramic artifacts whose fragments are reassembled with a combination of urushi lacquer, rice flour, Tonoko (clay powder) and pure gold powder. The repaired object is embellished and becomes unique and unrepeatable, leading the viewer to dwell on the beauty of fragility and imperfection, a metaphor for life itself.
