“Jewels and amulets. Beauty in ancient Egypt” extended until May 28, 2023

The temporary exhibition curated by Paolo Marini in collaboration with Martina Terzoli, Alessandro Girardi, and Cédric Gobeil will accompany visitors into the world of beauty in ancient Egypt.

The story of precious objects of ancient Egypt fascinates the visitors of the Vicenza Jewellery Museum, which extends until Sunday May 28th the exhibition "Jewels and amulets. Beauty in ancient Egypt", curated by Paolo Marini, in collaboration with Martina Terzoli, Alessandro Girardi and Cédric Gobeil, and initially scheduled until May 7th. The exhibition, born from the collaboration between The Jewellery Museum and the Museo Egizio as collateral to the exhibition in the Basilica Palladiana "The creators of eternal Egypt. Scribes, craftsmen and workers at the service of the pharaoh", accompanies visitors into the world of beauty, of cosmetics and magic of ancient Egypt, discovering amulets, hieroglyphs, and jewels, including an extraordinary funeral outfit still hidden among the bandages of the mummies of Kha and Merit, who lived in Deir el-Medina about 3600 years ago.

Together with the exhibition, the workshops for families continue at The Jewellery Museum until the end of May. The next appointment, "Nefer = Beautiful", scheduled for Sunday, March 26th, will be dedicated to the graphic signs of hieroglyphic writing and its sacred and magical meaning. Two other meetings are scheduled: on Sunday, April 16th, in the "UDJAT, DJED, TIT, BES" workshop, we will talk about the uses and functions of amulets, while on Sunday, May 28th, jewellery design will be discovered in the meeting dedicated to "Precious designs ”. Children aged 5 to 12 will be able to enter for free, while to participate in the workshops the fee will be 4.50 euros. The cost for adult admission is 10.00 euros (5.00 euros if resident in Vicenza and its province), 4.50 euros for the laboratory.

Furthermore, on the occasion of the Easter holidays and the anniversaries of the coming weeks, The Jewellery Museum will also be open on an extraordinary basis on Monday, April 10th, April 24th, and May 1st, 2023.
